San Francisco to Barstow (Day 1) August 23, 2019

After much anticipation, we hit the road this morning. Loaded up the truck with way too much crap.



Who cares, we have the room. Pretty easy drive down "the 5".



Stopped for lunch in Bakersfield.
I have decided that mexican food is pretty safe in the southwest. Hate to eat bad food. How are you going to find a good place to eat in Bakersfield or Barstow anyway?



Made it to our $97 per night Best Western Plus in Barstow. Very new and clean. Nice fitness center.


We exercised and swam and had a mediocre mexican dinner. Back to our room.

Overall, we had a great first day. It helped that we had zero expectations. Next stop Sedona.

    Safe travels! We use the Yelp app when traveling to find nearby best options for coffee shops, restaurants, etc. It works well. We will follow your adventures and have your guest suite ready in Minneapolis. Love and Cheers from Ed and Mary
