We had a nice morning with Meyer. We walked around Montreal some more. We went back to Schwartz's for an early smoked meat lunch.
It feels nice checking out of a hotel and not having a flight to catch. Very relaxing. We dropped Meyer off at the Montreal airport at about 1 p.m. We were glad to be back in the truck on the move again...for a while.
In retrospect, today was a very hard day! Per Beth: it takes a lot of patience to travel. We started a long drive too late in the day.
We are travel weary in a big way. Here is today's map showing Montreal 24 to Toronto 26. We only stopped here because we needed a stopping point between Montreal and Ann Arbor.
On the plus side, Canada is a big bargain. Their dollar is worth 75 cents. Everything seems cheap.
We got to Toronto late. I have to temper my statements about Toronto because I am only here less than one day. It is not really fair to judge the city based on a small sample. Here I go anyway: Toronto is a big bustling city. Very urban but without a lot of soul. It feels kind of sterile.
We are staying at a shitty hotel. We are spoiled. We walked from the hotel and found some mediocre Italian food.
Before we left on out trip, we had dinner with our friends Suzy and Jeff in Nicasio. They gave us lots of good tips. They said that after a while on the trip, you get in travel mode; where, travel becomes the normal. I think we have reached that point.
This is day 26. We've been traveling almost a month! We feel like we are on the downhill side of the trip.
Eastward across the country was uphill. Lake Placid was the peak. Now, we are going downhill westward. I am not really looking forward to getting home. Still enjoying the journey.
It is hard to spend so much time together. Both of us are getting annoyed pretty easily.
We are looking forward to Ann Arbor with the Weber Family tomorrow. We'll leave early. We need to get back on track.
Love,
bear and Beth
