Philadelphia to Middlebury, VT (Day 15) September 6, 2019

Mileage today: 357
Total Miles: 3897 + 357 = 4254

[Beth is using her finger to cover up her big boo boo on the map]

Nice drive up the East Coast today. About six hours. I find the long drives easy. I compare it to a long endurance ride on a bicycle. I am on the bike ten hours at a time doing a hard century. So, six to eight hours in the luxury of a vehicle is no sweat.

We passed the skyline of Manhattan. I wished we had gone there instead of Philadelphia. Oh well. Then we were in the Catskill Mountains. We stopped at Whole Foods in Albany for  big green salads.

The weather is cooler -  in the 60s. Aaah!

Beautiful green rolling hills in upstate New York. Blue highways

Welcome to Vermont – where is the ice cream?
I might have to visit the teddy bear factory

We stopped at Lake Bomoseen

Then we passed thru Salisbury, VT. Reminded me of  TV dinners. Salisbury Steak was my least favorite.

Turkey or Fried Chicken was much better.
Remember those metal stands we used to use?

Arrived at Kat and Tom's about 3:30. They live in an old farmhouse in Middlebury, VT. They have a real woodburning stove

We went into town to take a look around. Saw Middlebury Falls at Otter Creek

I noticed a sign that there was a bike ride tomorrow: the Kelly Brush Ride. Next thing you know, I rented a bike. I plan to ride 50 miles.

I'll let you know how it goes. I did not bring any biking stuff. I'll ride in sandals and some gear I am borrowing from Tom.

One more night here. Then off East to Maine or thereabouts.

Love,

Bear and Beth
